About This Audiobook

Everett's novel is a true game-changer, reimagining the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from a perspective that was long denied. By humanizing Jim, Everett not only sheds light on the inhumane treatment of enslaved people but also illuminates the resilience, the strength, and the capacity for love that exists within even the most dehumanizing of circumstances. As an audiobook, this production is a triumph, with Hoffman's nuanced performance bringing a sense of intimacy and immediacy to this pivotal story.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

If I have one criticism, it's that the pacing can feel a bit uneven at times, particularly in the quieter moments of Jim's narrative. At times, I found myself wishing for a slightly more deliberate approach to these sections, as Hoffman's rapid-fire delivery can sometimes make it difficult to fully absorb the emotional weight of the story. That being said, this is a small quibble, and overall, this is an exceptional production that will linger with listeners long after the final credits roll.
