Kora’s performance is the standout: her Janine starts with a voice so carefully neutral it’s chilling, but by the final act, she’s snarling lines like ‘*You don’t get to call me yours*’ with a venom that had me replaying the scene. Malik Rashad’s deeper tones as the pack’s enforcers are equally effective, though I wished for more texture in his secondary characters—some of the male roles blur together in timbre. The pacing is where *Janine* shines and occasionally stumbles. The first hour is a taut, almost claustrophobic build, with Higgins dropping breadcrumbs of worldbuilding (the Elders’ ‘blessing’ ceremonies, the way wolves are ranked by ‘usefulness’) without over-explaining. But the climax—while emotionally satisfying—feels rushed, as if the story’s momentum outpaced its own resolution. A few more minutes to linger on the fallout of Janine’s choices would’ve elevated this from excellent to unforgettable. Still, the production quality is flawless: no awkward edits, no volume inconsistencies, just a clean delivery that lets the story’s rage and tenderness breathe.
