La Hija [The Daughter]

As an audiobook listener, I was immediately drawn into 'La Hija' by its unique setting and the compelling family dynamics. The retirement community is a fresh backdrop for a mystery, and Owens uses it to great effect, creating a sense of unease that permeates every scene. Acosta's narration is a real treat, her voice capturing the essence of each character, from Rachel's steely resolve to Angie's vulnerability. The pacing is excellent, with just the right balance of tension and revelation to keep you hooked. My only critique is that some of the secondary characters could have been more fully developed, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding listen.
