I went into this audiobook skeptical of the ‘4-hour workweek’ hype, but Ferriss’s no-bullshit approach won me over—even in Spanish. Mario Elías Hernández Ferris’s narration is the standout here: his delivery is tight, energetic, and free of the overblown motivational cadence that sinks so many business audiobooks. He nails Ferriss’s dry humor, especially during the chapter on ‘mini-retirements,’ where the absurdity of traditional retirement plans hits home. That said, the production has one glaring flaw: the audio levels fluctuate wildly between Ferris’s narration and the included case studies or interviews. Some sections dip so low you’ll scramble to turn the volume up, only to be blasted by the next clip. As for content, Ferriss’s ‘DEAL’ framework (Definition, Elimination, Automation, Liberation) is gold, but his refusal to acknowledge the privilege inherent in his strategies—like outsourcing your life to virtual assistants in lower-cost countries—feels like a blind spot. Still, if you’re serious about breaking free from the grind, this book will make you rethink everything, even if it doesn’t account for the real-world barriers. Worth it for the mindset shift alone, but bring a volume knob to your ears.
