Andy Harrington’s narration sells him as equal parts charming and unnervingly competent—a man who can defuse a bomb *and* your aunt’s passive-aggressive comments about your single status. The real delight, though, is how the audiobook leans into its duality. One minute, Amanda Friday’s delivering a line about tinsel with the weary affection of someone who’s hosted too many family holidays; the next, Harrington’s voice drops to a murmur as Park scans a room for exits. The production shines in these transitions, using subtle audio cues (a distant car engine, the *click* of a lock) to bridge scenes without overdoing it. That said, the middle act sags slightly under the weight of its own cleverness. A subplot involving a missing artifact feels undercooked, and Keisel’s reliance on quippy banter occasionally tips into repetition—there’s only so many times ‘I could tell you, but then I’d have to *kiss* you’ can land before it loses its punch. Still, the final act redeems it with a set piece so delightfully absurd (involving a reindeer, a snowmobile, and a very bad lie) that I actually rewound to listen twice. For fans of romances that balance sweetness with stakes—or anyone tired of hallmarks heroes who can’t even change a tire—this is a holiday listen that delivers both comfort and surprise.
