That’s when I knew *Silent Heist* was playing a different game. Fayeth’s writing is lean and clever, with dialogue that snaps like a safecracker’s tools, and the audiobook leans into that rhythm. Harrington’s performance is the standout: he makes Soren’s arrogance charming, his vulnerability *earned*, and his panic when faced with a chaotic child (*“Why is there glitter in the motion sensors?!”*) genuinely hilarious. Friday matches him beat for beat, especially in scenes where her character’s professionalism cracks under his provocation—her *“Oh, *now* you’re talkative?”* drips with years of unresolved history. The pacing is where this shines. Most heist romances front-load the planning, but Fayeth drops us into the chaos mid-job, forcing Soren to improvise around a nanny who’s *way* too good at her job and a kid who treats his infiltration like a sleepover game. The middle act drags *slightly*—there’s a subplot about a rival thief that feels tacked on—but the payoff, a climactic confrontation in a rainstorm (with *excellent* atmospheric sound design), more than makes up for it. My only real critique? The kid’s voice work occasionally veers into *too* precocious, but it’s a minor quibble in an otherwise razor-sharp production. If you love enemies-to-lovers with actual stakes, banter that doesn’t rely on clichés, and a heist that’s as much about stealing hearts as art? This is your audiobook.
