Her performance as narrator is *masterclass* level in how she embodies the protagonist’s descent: one minute, she’s cooing like a lover, the next, her voice cracks into something feral, as if she’s physically transforming mid-sentence. The production choices are equally bold—there’s a scene in Chapter 3 where the audio distorts slightly, like a corrupted tape, and it’s *so* effective at selling the body horror that I actually paused to check my headphones. That said, this isn’t a flawless experience. The middle act drags a touch as the psychological unraveling starts to feel repetitive; Caraway lingers *just* a beat too long on certain metaphors (the ‘rot as rebirth’ motif gets heavy-handed by the fifth iteration). And while the gore is visceral, some of the erotic scenes teeter into territory that might alienate even adventurous listeners—not because they’re extreme, but because the power dynamics occasionally feel *uneven* in a way that undercuts the intended transgression. Still, the finale is worth the squirming: a climax so audaciously bleak and sexy it’ll haunt your play count. If you’re here for safe kink or horror-lite, turn back.
