Light

I was swept up in the world of Light from the opening pages, and Melissa Stone's narration was a big part of that. Her soothing voice has a way of drawing you in, making you feel like you're right there with Dionne as she navigates her complicated relationships and family secrets. One of the things that really stood out to me was the way Stone handled the pacing of the story. She deftly balanced moments of high tension with quieter, more introspective scenes, creating a sense of flow that was easy to get lost in. If I have any criticisms, it's that a few of the supporting characters felt a bit one-dimensional at times. I would have loved to see more development in some of the secondary characters, particularly those with the most complex relationships to Dionne. That being said, the main character herself is fully realized and relatable, and I think many listeners will see themselves in her struggles and triumphs. Overall, I think Light is a fantastic addition to the young adult fantasy genre, and I'd highly recommend it to fans of authors like Maggie Stiefvater or Leigh Bardugo.
