I devoured this audiobook in one sitting, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Lee Samuels' narration is nothing short of phenomenal – his voice is warm, engaging, and perfectly suited to the story. He brings Ivy's inner turmoil to life with remarkable skill, conveying her vulnerability and determination in equal measure. One of the things that sets this audiobook apart is its thought-provoking exploration of addiction and codependency. The author tackles these complex topics with sensitivity and nuance, never shying away from the tougher questions. While some listeners may find the pacing a tad slow at times, I found it to be a deliberate choice that added to the overall tension and emotional resonance of the story. If I have one criticism, it's that the supporting cast feels somewhat one-dimensional at times – a few of the characters feel more like caricatures than fully fleshed-out people. Nevertheless, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook.
