About This Audiobook

Dive into the rugged world of 'Men Without Women', Hemingway's second collection of novellas, first published in 1927. These stories are as concise and powerful as a punch to the gut, each one a snapshot of masculinity, loneliness, and the human condition. Narrator Dan Schlosser's gruff, no-nonsense delivery is the perfect match for Hemingway's spare prose, bringing an authentic, gritty edge to these timeless tales. What sets this audiobook apart is its unflinching exploration of male identity, making it a must-listen for fans of classic literature and anyone seeking a raw, unvarnished look at life.

Editor's Review

AudioBook Atlas

Dan Schlosser's narration is the backbone of this audiobook, his deep, gravelly voice perfectly capturing the stoicism and quiet desperation that permeates Hemingway's stories. His ability to convey emotion through subtle inflections is remarkable, especially in the heart-wrenching 'The Killers', where he masterfully portrays the resigned acceptance of impending doom. The pacing is excellent, allowing each story to unfold naturally, with just the right pauses to let the weight of Hemingway's words sink in. However, I found the lack of variation in Schlosser's voice made some of the shorter stories feel a bit monotonous. Overall, though, this is a stellar audiobook that does justice to Hemingway's iconic writing.
