Rina’s frustration at losing her shapeshifting abilities crackles through the narration, and Marcin’s ability to shift between exhaustion, rage, and quiet determination kept me glued to my headphones. The side characters, particularly Rina’s mentor, are given depth without feeling like caricatures, which is rare in this genre. The pacing, however, stumbles slightly in the final act. The climax feels rushed, as if Ashta prioritized wrapping up threads over delivering a fully satisfying payoff. The audio production itself is top-notch—no tinny narration or distracting background noise—though a few scenes could’ve used more dynamic energy to match the tension. That said, the story’s emotional core shines. Rina isn’t a typical chosen one; she’s flawed, reactive, and learning on the fly.
