That said, the breakneck speed occasionally skips over some of Luther’s more controversial later writings, like his antisemitic pamphlets. Those aren’t glossed over entirely, but the audiobook could have spent a minute wrestling with that legacy instead of rushing past it. Still, Rowan’s performance elevates the material—you’ll feel the heat of the Diet of Worms, not just hear about it. If you’re after a no-nonsense primer that respects your time, this one delivers, warts and all.
