About This Audiobook

Rhys Everly’s *Me Three* isn’t just another steamy romance—it’s a razor-sharp, emotionally charged exploration of desire, power, and the messy reality of falling for the people you least expect. The premise is simple: a drunken night with two best friends spirals into something far more complicated when they turn out to be your college professors. But Everly doesn’t give you a lazy, over-the-top drama. Instead, they deliver a tightly written, often hilarious character study that flips the script on forbidden romance tropes. The tension isn’t just about the scandal of student-teacher dynamics; it’s about the raw, reckless way attraction can blur lines we pretend are sacred. The prose is sharp, the dialogue crackles, and the emotional beats land with surprising weight. If you’re tired of love stories that treat passion as a sidebar to drama, this one’s for you. Narrator John York elevates the material with a performance that’s equal parts smooth and snarky. His voice has a velvety richness that makes even the most awkward confessions feel intimate, while his knack for deadpan delivery turns the book’s humor into something irresistibly magnetic. York doesn’t overact the steam—he lets the writing do the work, which makes the rare moments of genuine tenderness hit even harder. The pacing is tight, the production crisp, and the chemistry between the narrated voices (where applicable) feels organic, not forced. This isn’t just an audiobook; it’s a fully realized experience.

AudioBook Atlas

I went into *Me Three* expecting a lighthearted romp, and while it delivers plenty of that, it also surprised me with how deeply it burrowed into the messiness of attraction and regret. John York’s narration is a huge part of that success. His portrayal of the unnamed protagonist—caught between arrogance and vulnerability—feels lived-in, especially when York nails the cringe-worthy moments, like a drunken confession or a backhanded compliment that lands with brutal accuracy. The professors, Carter and Miller, are a delicious pair of contradictions: one icy and disciplined, the other warm but dangerously playful. Their dynamic with the protagonist crackles, and York’s ability to modulate between their tones (from stern to sultry to self-deprecating) keeps the audiobook from ever feeling flat. What didn’t work for me? The middle act drags slightly as the protagonist’s internal monologue veers a bit too much into self-pity, and the resolution wraps up a tad too neatly after such a tangled setup. Still, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise addictive listen. The chemistry between York’s narration and Everly’s writing makes the emotional payoffs feel earned, not contrived. If you crave romance that’s as smart as it is sexy—with a side of laugh-out-loud awkwardness—this one’s a slam dunk.
