From the first sentence to the last, the narrators’ performances are nothing short of brilliant. Julia Whelan brings depth to the protagonist’s journey with her emotive voice, while MacLeod Andrews imbues his character with a sense of mystery and power that is both captivating and chilling. Ann Marie Lee’s voice adds a layer of vulnerability that resonates deeply. The pacing of Morrighan is excellent, balancing action-packed sequences with quieter moments that allow for introspection. However, the story occasionally gets bogged down in world-building details, which can feel repetitive at times. Despite this, the overall experience is enchanting, making it hard to put down (or turn off). This audiobook isn’t just about romance; it’s a spellbinding journey through the origins of a complex and captivating universe.
