As someone who enjoys both romance and historical fiction, I was immediately drawn to Never After by Alexis Hall. From the very beginning, I found myself completely immersed in the story, thanks in large part to the exceptional narration by Steve West. West's voice is warm and engaging, perfectly capturing the essence of each character and their emotions. I particularly enjoyed the way he portrayed the lead characters' growing attraction, his voice conveying the tension and vulnerability of their budding relationship. One aspect that I found slightly underdeveloped was the world-building. While I appreciated the historical context, I would have liked to see more detail and depth in the descriptions of the setting, as I felt it could have enhanced the overall listening experience. Nonetheless, Never After remains a captivating and emotionally resonant audiobook that I would highly recommend to fans of the genre.
