As someone who appreciates a good fantasy adventure, I found myself completely absorbed in Noir by Jacqueline E. Garlick, especially when it comes to the audiobook version narrated by Sarah Coomes. Coomes's narration brings a sense of urgency and vulnerability to Eyelet's character, making her struggles and triumphs all the more engaging. The pacing of the story is well-executed, with Coomes's voice perfectly capturing the eerie atmosphere of the dark lands Eyelet traverses. One aspect I particularly enjoyed was the dynamic relationship between Eyelet and Urlick, as Coomes's portrayal of their bond adds emotional depth to the story. However, the occasional information dump during exposition scenes could have been better integrated into the narrative to maintain a smoother flow. Despite this, Noir is a captivating listen that fantasy enthusiasts will not want to miss.
