That said, the audiobook’s pacing occasionally stumbles in the middle act, where Ballard’s subplot (a personal case) slows the momentum to a simmer. It’s not a fatal flaw, but it’s noticeable when the Bosch-driven action should be crackling. The production is otherwise flawless—clean audio, no distracting background noise, just the sound of a story unfolding in your ears like a late-night radio broadcast. My biggest critique? The title, *Nuit sombre et sacrée*, is a mood-setter but doesn’t hint at the book’s ruthless procedural twists. If you’re a Connelly fan or new to his world, this audiobook delivers the goods, but go in expecting less glamour and more grind. That’s where the magic lives.
