Yotzmit Ramírez’s narration is the standout here—her ability to shift between teenage angst, gothic gravitas, and eerie supernatural menace is nothing short of impressive. She nails the book’s tone, which vacillates between dreamy introspection and suffocating dread, often within the same chapter. The pacing, however, is a double-edged sword. The first half ambles through atmospheric buildup, which might frustrate listeners expecting immediate payoff. But once the story locks into its groove, the tension never lets up, culminating in a finale that’s both satisfying and bittersweet. If I had one critique, it’s that some secondary characters feel underdeveloped, leaving their arcs feeling like afterthoughts. The production quality is pristine, with no distracting background noise, though the soft, mournful underscore occasionally competes with Ramírez’s quieter lines. That aside, this audiobook delivers exactly what fans of gothic romance crave: a love story that feels as fated as it does doomed.
