I went into *Owned by Her Enemy* expecting a fluffy mafia romance, but Evie Rose delivered something far more intoxicating—a story where love and danger aren’t just bedfellows, they’re the entire bed frame. Bastian Allen’s narration is a masterclass in villainous charm; his Nikolai isn’t just a brute with a credit card, he’s a man who speaks in threats that feel like promises. There were moments his voice alone made my stomach flip, which is saying something for an audiobook. Cleo Pope shines as Evangeline, her performance crackling with the frustration and reluctant attraction of a woman who knows she’s playing with fire but can’t look away. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but what really sells it is how Rose writes Nikolai’s possessiveness—not as creepy, but as a twisted kind of devotion. The pacing is relentless, the production clean, and the Bratva details immersive enough to make you forget this is a contemporary setting. That said, I have two quibbles. First, the “feud” between the families is glossed over so quickly I had to rewind to remember why they were enemies in the first place. Second, the epilogue felt rushed, like Rose was more interested in teasing a sequel than giving these two a satisfying closer. But those are minor nitpicks in what’s otherwise a deliciously dark romance. If you love your love stories with a side of danger and a hero who’s equal parts terrifying and irresistible, this audiobook will ruin you—in the best way.
