I went into *Baby Proposal* expecting a light, fluffy romp with a side of spice, and Evie Rose delivered—though not without a few hiccups along the way. First, the good: the banter between the leads is electric, particularly during their early encounters where the grumpy boss’s demands and the protagonist’s flustered retorts create a dynamic that’s equal parts infuriating and irresistible. Shane East’s narration is a standout, giving the billionaire a voice that’s all gravel and arrogance, which makes his softer moments feel earned rather than forced. The audiobook’s runtime is tight, clocking in under two and a half hours, which is perfect for a quick, satisfying listen—no filler, no meandering. That said, the story’s reliance on magic as a plot device occasionally feels like a cheat. The love potion angle is used to handwave away what should be serious consequences, and while I appreciate a book that isn’t afraid to go bold, the lack of consequences for such a reckless act strains credibility. Evelyn Rose’s performance as the protagonist is solid but, at times, her delivery of the protagonist’s internal monologues leans a little too hard into the breathless side of things, making some emotional beats feel exaggerated. Still, the pacing is snappy, the spice is well-timed, and the ending lands with a satisfying (if predictable) thud. If you’re looking for a playful, slightly kinky fling with a side of workplace drama, this delivers.
