Axe Landry isn’t just a brooding alpha—he’s a *lawyer* alpha, and his obsession with rules and order makes his forced chaos with his fake mate, a witch who couldn’t care less about his authority, *deliciously* combative. The worldbuilding is dense but never overwhelming, with witch-werewolf politics that feel like a supernatural *Suits* meets *The Wolf of Wall Street*—if Jordan Belfort had fangs and a mate bond problem. The courtroom scenes are particularly sharp, with Burrelli’s legal background (she’s a former attorney) lending authenticity to the procedural twists. Now, the narration: Chris Chambers *owns* this role. His Axe is a masterclass in controlled fury—you can hear the teeth grinding when he’s backed into a corner, and the rare moments of tenderness land like gut punches. That said, the female voices occasionally veer into slightly cartoonish territory, which pulled me out of the immersion a couple of times. And while the pacing is mostly tight, the middle act drags just a smidge as the fake-mate scheme stretches credibility (even by paranormal standards). But the payoff? Worth it.
