Her delivery of Halpern’s metaphors—like comparing thermal engines to time-traveling information processors—lands with a punch, making the abstract feel tangible. The pacing is brisk, but never rushed, and her tone shifts just enough to keep the blend of history and quantum weirdness from feeling overstuffed. That said, the audiobook’s biggest strength is also its occasional stumbling block. Wong’s enthusiasm sometimes edges into breathless overexplanation, especially during the denser theoretical sections, where the energy in her voice can make a complex concept feel like it’s being shouted over a factory floor. A handful of the analogies, while clever, might leave listeners scratching their heads if they’re not already familiar with the basics of thermodynamics or quantum mechanics. Still, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise stellar performance. By the time you reach the final chapter, Halpern and Wong have built something rare: a scientific narrative that’s as intellectually satisfying as it is audibly immersive.
