Gifuni's versatile voice and impeccable Italian pronunciation brought a sense of immediacy to the story, with his pacing mirroring the chaotic energy of the prose. The audiobook excelled in capturing the novel's intricate plot and vivid social commentary, while occasional moments of Gifuni's soft laughter provided a much-needed break from the novel's intensity. However, the audiobook's pacing could have benefitted from a more pronounced pause between chapters to allow listeners to fully absorb the story's many twists and turns.
