I was hooked from the get-go. Mixon's world-building is impressive, with a detailed history and compelling cultures that make the galaxy feel lived-in. The pacing is spot-on, balancing quieter political maneuvering with explosive space battles. Giguere's narration is a real highlight. She handles the diverse cast of characters with ease, giving each a unique voice and personality. Her ability to convey emotion is particularly notable, bringing depth to even minor characters. My only minor critique is that some of the tech jargon can feel a bit info-dumpy at times, but it's a small price to pay for the richly detailed universe.
