The pacing is expertly managed, hurtling from breakneck action sequences to thoughtful character moments with ease. One of the standout elements of Ransom is its thoughtful exploration of the intersection of history and modern politics – Silva's research is meticulous, and Ballerini brings it to life with a level of authenticity that's all too rare in popular fiction. If I have one quibble, it's that the audiobook feels slightly rushed, with some characters and plot threads feeling a tad underdeveloped.
