When Eva's twin brother Eamon dies, she steps into his place for the Testing, an annual competition that determines the fate of their society. The story is a fresh take on the genre, with a unique focus on Irish culture and mythology, making it stand out among other young adult dystopias. Narrator Angela Brazil brings Eva's determination and vulnerability to life, her Irish accent adding an authentic touch to the story. Editor's Review ★★★★★

AudioBook Atlas

I was immediately drawn into Relic's intriguing premise and unique setting. The story is a thrilling blend of action, suspense, and Irish folklore, with a protagonist in Eva who is both relatable and resilient. Angela Brazil's narration is excellent, her voice capturing Eva's spirit and the story's emotional depth. However, I found some of the secondary characters less developed, which sometimes made it challenging to fully invest in their storylines. Despite this, the audiobook's pacing is exceptional, with a compelling narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you're a fan of dystopian YA with a unique twist, Relic is a must-listen.
