Wen Ross’s performance as the unnamed wife is masterclass in restraint; she doesn’t scream (often), but her voice cracks in places that make you *feel* the bones of her fear. Kai Kennicott’s Santiago, meanwhile, is a revelation: one moment a hypnotic purr, the next a snarl that had me glancing at my locked doors. The chemistry between them isn’t romantic—it’s *symbiotic*, like two predators circling the same kill. That said, the pacing stumbles in the middle. Zavarelli’s strength is psychological tension, not plot twists, and there’s a stretch where the wife’s internal monologue loops a beat too long. I also wished the gothic atmosphere—all crumbling estates and whispered prayers—had been pushed further; the horror here is more psychological than visceral, which might disappoint fans of overt terror. But the ending? Brutal and perfect, the kind that leaves you staring at the ceiling long after the audio stops.
