That’s when I knew *Resistance* wasn’t playing by the usual rules. This audiobook thrives on contrasts: the brutality of the mafia vs. MC war against the tenderness of a romance that feels forbidden in the best way. Cendese nails the weary authority of a man who’s spent his life leading a club under siege, while Mia Madison’s performance as the mafia princess who refuses to be a pawn is sharp and nuanced, especially in scenes where her character’s defiance slips into vulnerability. The story’s strength lies in its refusal to rush. Osborn lets the tension simmer, whether it’s in the unspoken glances during a tense negotiation or the way a single touch lingers a second too long. That said, the middle act drags slightly—there’s a stretch where the political maneuvering between the families starts to feel repetitive, and I found myself fast-forwarding through a few strategy sessions. And while the chemistry between the leads is off the charts, the side characters sometimes blend together, their voices (both in writing and narration) lacking distinctiveness.
