Her singing scenes? Electric. You can *hear* the smoky bar, the clink of glasses, the way Ama’s voice trembles when she’s lying. That said, the pacing stumbles in the middle—Oh spends a little too long on Ama’s internal monologues about trust, and a subplot involving a rogue AI feels undercooked compared to the sharper character dynamics. What won me over was the audiobook’s *atmosphere*. The production team nailed the ambient sounds—distant sirens, the hum of neon signs—which immerses you in Neo Beijing without overpowering the narration. The fight scenes are where Oh and Ye truly sync: telepathic combat isn’t just described, it’s *felt*, with Ye’s voice dropping to a growl or snapping into a whisper to mirror the mental blows. My one critique? The romance subplot, while steamy, occasionally undercuts Ama’s agency. She’s at her best when she’s a lone wolf, and the moments she isn’t feel like they’re serving the plot more than her character. Still, by the final act, I was fully invested.
