As an audiobook editor, I devoured Set in Stone in one sitting, and I'm still reeling from the experience. James L. Rubart's narration is as smooth as silk, his voice effortlessly navigating the complex web of characters and plot threads. Warren's writing shines in the supporting cast, particularly the enigmatic female detective, who serves as a fascinating counterpoint to Stone's dogged determination. My only quibble lies in the pacing's occasional reliance on convenient coincidences, which, while necessary to propel the story forward, occasionally feel contrived. Nonetheless, this is a minor complaint in what is otherwise a razor-sharp thriller that will keep listeners on the edge of their seats. With its breakneck pace and pulse-pounding suspense, Set in Stone is a must-listen for fans of crime thrillers.
