Seven Dead Fish

I was drawn into 'Seven Dead Fish' from the start, thanks to McKiernan's low-key yet compelling narration. The story is expertly paced, with a slow-burning tension that culminates in a shocking revelation. Latham's writing is evocative and precise, conjuring the harsh beauty of the Idaho wilderness and the troubled inner life of its protagonist, Charlie Cove. If I have any quibbles, it's that some of the supporting characters feel a bit underdeveloped, and the pacing can be a bit uneven in the middle sections. Still, these are minor complaints in an otherwise gripping and well-crafted audiobook that will appeal to fans of literary thrillers and those interested in Indigenous literature.
