She Drinks the Light

I was immediately drawn into She Drinks the Light's atmospheric island setting, reminiscent of a creepier, more sinister Bluebeard's Castle. Addae is a compelling heroine, her determination to protect her friend driving the plot forward at a breakneck pace. Hobbs' narration is exceptional, capturing Addae's emotional journey with nuance and intensity. The only critique I have is that some of the secondary characters could have been more fully developed, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding listen. The production is seamless, with sound effects used sparingly but effectively to enhance the chilling atmosphere. If you're looking for a YA thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, with a unique paranormal twist, this is a must-listen.
