It’s electric. The pacing hits a perfect stride—Blake keeps action set pieces snappy enough to satisfy adrenaline junkies while letting the conspiracy breathe, so the slow reveal of the cabal’s reach doesn’t feel rushed. That said, the mid-section sags slightly under the weight of too many exposition dumps about art authentication protocols. I found myself wishing Blake trusted his dialogue to carry the forensic detail rather than pausing for infodumps that feel like filler between shootouts. Where the story truly shines is its global scope: Blake stitches together Manhattan’s underbelly with Interpol databases and a shadowy arms dealer’s hideout in Dubai, all while Silver races to decode a cipher that’s been waiting centuries to be cracked. The villain is chillingly plausible—not a mustache-twirler, but a bureaucrat with a spreadsheet and a god complex. Production quirks like sudden silence cueing a gunshot or the echo of a subway tunnel in a chase sequence add layers absent from print. My only complaint? The epilogue wraps a little too neatly for a story this morally murky.
