About This Audiobook

Slow Play is a gripping, unapologetic dive into the life of Alexandria Asher, a young woman forced to confront the harsh realities of life after her parents' embezzlement scandal. Murphy's prose is raw and honest, painting a vivid picture of Alex's journey from privilege to the struggles of the working class. What sets this audiobook apart is its dual narration, with Seraphine Valentine and Jack DuPont seamlessly alternating between Alex's and her love interest's perspectives. Valentine's performance brings a refreshing vulnerability to Alex, while DuPont's narration adds a layer of rugged charm to the story's leading man. This isn't just a coming-of-age tale; it's a story about survival, resilience, and the power of self-discovery.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I was hooked from the first chapter. Murphy's writing is like a punch to the gut, raw and unapologetic, and the dual narration only enhances this effect. Seraphine Valentine's performance as Alex is a standout, capturing the character's vulnerability and strength in equal measure. Jack DuPont's narration adds a layer of grit and charm to the story's leading man, making the dual perspective work seamlessly. The pacing is steady, allowing the story to unfold naturally. However, I found some of the secondary characters a bit one-dimensional, which was my only critique. Overall, 'Slow Play' is a compelling listen that will keep you engaged until the very end.
