AudioBook Atlas
I’ll admit: I rolled my eyes at the premise. *Another* jilted-groom trope? But *Snowed In* disarmed me within chapters, mostly because Megan is such a delightful disaster. She’s not the repentant prodigal daughter; she’s the woman who left for a reason, and Walsh lets her stay prickly long enough to make the eventual thaw feel earned. The audiobook’s pacing mirrors this—slow to warm, but once it hits its stride (around the disastrous Christmas pageant scene), it’s impossible to pause. Gleeson and Rankin’s narration is the secret weapon. Gleeson’s Isaac isn’t just ‘the nice guy’; he’s got a sarcastic streak that keeps him from being cloying, and Rankin nails Megan’s defensiveness so well you’ll wince at her comebacks *and* cheer for them.
That said, the middle act drags slightly with one too many ‘will they/won’t they’ near-misses, and the village’s collective grudge starts to feel cartoonish (surely *someone* would’ve moved on in four years?). But the production quality is flawless—crisp audio, seamless transitions between narrators—and the final act delivers a payoff that’s both satisfying and surprisingly poignant. This isn’t a cozy blanket of a romance; it’s the audiobook equivalent of a snowball fight—messy, a little bruising, but impossible not to laugh through. Ideal for fans of *The Hating Game*’s banter or *One Day in December*’s small-town tension, but with a heroine who refuses to play nice.
