Spider Games

As a listener, I was drawn into Spider Games' grimy, atmospheric world from the get-go. Nolan's narration is a perfect match for the story's bleak tone, his steady voice lending an almost documentary-like feel to the proceedings. He expertly differentiates characters, from the steely McKinnon to the vulnerable victims, making each one feel real and compelling. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the story's intricate web to unfurl at just the right speed to keep you on the edge of your seat. However, I did find some of the dialogue a bit too on-the-nose at times, with characters occasionally stating the obvious. But this is a minor gripe in an otherwise outstanding audiobook that will leave you questioning just how well you know your neighbors.
