Sands’ delivery during cross-examinations is particularly electric; you can *hear* the chess moves happening in her pauses and inflections. The production is clean, with no distracting edits, though I’d have loved a touch more atmospheric background noise during the street scenes to heighten the tension. Winters’ plotting is tight but not predictable. The ‘whodunit’ aspect takes a backseat to a more compelling question: *What would you sacrifice to convict the right person?* The billionaire victim is no saint, and the shooter’s motives are uncomfortably sympathetic—this isn’t a neat tale of good vs. evil. My only critique? The romantic subplot feels tacked on, a rare misstep in an otherwise lean narrative. And while the ending satisfies, it leaves just enough loose threads to make me hungry for Jessie’s next case.
