I’ll admit, I was skeptical when I started *False Justice*—another courthouse thriller risks feeling like reruns of *The Good Wife*. But Winters flips the script with a story that’s less about courtroom theatrics and more about the quiet violence of institutional corruption. Xe Sands’ narration sells it completely; her Jessie isn’t just another prosecutor, but a woman unraveling from the inside out, her frustration and fear vibrating in every clipped syllable. The audiobook’s 6-hour runtime flies by, which is impressive given how meticulously Winters layers his plot. That said, Jessie’s occasionally opaque motivations grated on me at times. There’s a pivotal moment where her decisions feel reactive rather than deliberate, breaking the otherwise tight logic. And while Sands’ performance is stellar, the production occasionally swallows quieter dialogue in crowded scenes—a minor gripe, but one that pulled me out of the tension. Still, these flaws didn’t diminish my enjoyment; if you crave thrillers where the real enemy isn’t the villain but the system itself, this is your audiobook.
