The Attorney

As an audiobook editor, I was blown away by the sheer energy of The Attorney. From the opening pages, Erik Bergmann's narration had me hooked, drawing me into the world of Paul Madriani with a sense of immediacy and intimacy. Martini's writing is a masterclass in suspense, with each twist and turn expertly set up to keep listeners on their toes. And yet, while the plot is undoubtedly the star of the show, Bergmann's performance is what truly elevates The Attorney to the next level. His range is impressive, moving seamlessly from Madriani's moments of quiet introspection to the high-stakes action sequences with ease. If I have any criticism, it's that the supporting cast sometimes feels a bit one-dimensional, with characters like Madriani's love interest feeling more like a prop than a fully fleshed-out person. And while Bergmann does his best to bring them to life, there are moments where they feel like an afterthought. Still, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise excellent audiobook. With its breakneck pace, razor-sharp plotting, and standout narration, The Attorney is a must-listen for fans of the thriller genre.
