Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I was thoroughly engrossed in 'The Bone Chess Set', thanks in large part to Madeleine Brolly's skilled narration. Her steady pace and nuanced characterization brought depth to the story, making it easy to become invested in Ela's quest for justice. The pacing is well-handled, with a narrative that unfolds at a satisfying clip. One area where the production could improve is in the occasional subtlety of sound effects – a bit more ambiance in certain scenes could further enhance the immersive quality. Overall, however, this is a compelling listen that will appeal to fans of historical mystery and strong female protagonists. My only other quibble is that some of the supporting characters feel a tad underdeveloped, but this doesn't detract from the overall impact of the story.
