Saucedo nails the balance between sarcasm and desperation, making Melany feel like a real teenager thrust into an nightmare, not some polished heroine. Roman Howell’s sections, meanwhile, add a layer of gravitas to the world’s darker forces, though I’ll admit his pacing occasionally feels *too* measured next to Saucedo’s urgency. The story’s strength lies in its refusal to hold your hand. Amore drops you into the Cave with Melany and lets the confusion simmer. The worldbuilding is sparse but *effective*—you piece together the rules as she does, and the lack of exposition makes the reveals hit harder. That said, the middle act drags slightly; the repetitive nature of Melany’s trials (while thematically fitting) can test patience in audio form. And while the ending lands with emotional weight, I wished for a touch more clarity on the Cave’s mechanics—some threads feel deliberately vague to the point of frustration. Still, the narration’s immersive quality (those whispers! that echo!) makes this a standout for fans of moody, introspective fantasy.
