Told through years of fragmented messages, it avoids the pitfalls of many Christian romances by letting silence and subtext carry the weight. I loved how Gussman uses the hero’s wealth as a barrier, not a fairy-tale fix—his money can’t buy absolution, and the heroine’s faith isn’t a magic wand for her grief.
