She nails the duality of Nadia’s voice—soft but steely, tender but unyielding—as she navigates a world where love is the only thing that outlasts forgetting. The pacing is deliberate, letting the weight of each memory loss (and recovery) settle like dust on the listener’s skin. That said, the middle act drags a tad; some expositional passages drag down the momentum, and the love story occasionally veers into melodrama when subtlety would serve it better. Still, Plummer’s performance elevates even the clunkiest lines, and the production quality is crisp, with no distracting background noise to disrupt the immersive dread of Canaan’s cyclical horror. If you’re here for a YA romance with teeth, *The Forgetting* delivers—just don’t expect the twists to surprise you. What lingers isn’t the plot, but the ache of Nadia’s fight to hold onto what’s been stolen from her, again and again.
