The Game of Gods: Publisher's Pack

I dove headfirst into The Game of Gods: Publisher's Pack, and I wasn't disappointed. Ramón de Ocampo's narration is simply superb – his voice has a warm, sonorous quality that makes it easy to become fully invested in the world and its characters. Kern's writing is, of course, the real star of the show, and his skill at crafting compelling characters and plot twists is on full display here. I particularly enjoyed the way he subverts expectations, taking familiar mythological tropes and turning them on their head. That being said, some listeners may find the pacing a tad uneven in places – particularly during the second book, where the action can feel a bit frenetic. Still, overall, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise fantastic listening experience. One of the things that truly sets this audiobook apart is its willingness to tackle big, difficult themes: power, identity, the nature of morality in a world where gods and mortals walk hand in hand. Kern's writing is fearless and unflinching, and de Ocampo brings his characters to life with a level of emotional depth that's rare in even the best audiobooks.
