The Haunted House

I was thoroughly entertained by 'The Haunted House', despite some slightly dated language and narrative tropes. Nigel Lambert's narration is generally superb, bringing a sense of understated menace to the story. My only real criticism is that the production could have benefited from a slightly more nuanced approach to sound design - at times, the silence feels a bit too silent, and a few judiciously-placed creaks and groans would have added to the tension. Still, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise delightful listen. Fans of classic horror will love this, and Nesbit's writing is still surprisingly effective at conjuring unease.
