I’m a sucker for a well-crafted small-town romance, and *The Honeycrisp Orchard Inn* delivered exactly what I wanted: a story that’s equal parts comforting and crackling with chemistry. Andi Arndt’s narration is a masterclass in tonal balance—her voice glides between the heroine’s sharp wit and the hero’s gruff charm with such natural ease that I forgot I was listening to an audiobook at all. The production quality is top-notch, too; the ambient sounds of rustling leaves and distant laughter add texture without ever overpowering the dialogue. What stood out to me was how Bowman avoids the trap of making the orchard setting *too* quaint. Yes, there are sun-drenched scenes and apple-picking montages, but there’s also grit—family feuds, financial strain, and a heroine who’s more of a ‘fix things myself’ type than a ‘damsel in distress.’ That said, if you’re looking for breakneck pacing, this isn’t it. The romance unfolds at a deliberate, almost meandering pace, which some might find frustrating. And while the hero’s redemption arc is satisfying, I wish we’d gotten more insight into his motivations beyond ‘I’m the grumpy orchard guy who’s secretly a softie.’ But those are minor quibbles in an otherwise delightful listen. By the time I reached the final chapter, I was fully invested in these characters and their orchard’s future.
