The Inn at Holiday Bay, Books 34-36

I started listening to *The Inn at Holiday Bay* Books 34–36 expecting another lighthearted cozy mystery, but Daley and Clark pulled me into something with more bite. Angel Clark’s narration is the standout—her portrayal of Alex’s frustration when leads go cold is palpable, and her knack for comedic timing sells the lighter moments without undermining the tension. The mystery itself is well-structured, with enough red herrings to keep you guessing, though I found myself wishing for a bit more depth in the villain’s motivations. The food truck murder is a clever twist, tying into the arson cases in ways that feel organic, not forced. That said, the production occasionally stumbles with abrupt shifts in tone—some emotional beats land too softly, while others feel overemphasized. And while I appreciate the coastal setting, the wintery atmosphere sometimes leans too heavily into cliché (how many times can we hear about the wind howling through the pines?). Still, the payoff is satisfying, especially if you’re invested in Alex’s journey. Clark’s performance makes the audiobook feel like a late-night fireside tale, even if the story occasionally flickers. If you love mysteries where the setting is as much a character as the people, this one’s worth your time.
