The Ivies

As I edited The Ivies, I found myself becoming increasingly invested in the lives of its complex and often despicable characters. Narrator Phoebe Strole's performance was a major factor in this, bringing a level of nuance and depth to the story that was truly impressive. Her vocal range is impressive, shifting seamlessly from the soft, calculating tones of the main character to the shrill, entitled voices of the school's elite. One area where I felt the story fell short was in its portrayal of the male characters. While the female characters are complex and multidimensional, the men often feel one-dimensional and cartoonish, serving primarily as foils to the more interesting female characters. This was a minor criticism, however, and didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the audiobook. As the story hurtled towards its surprising conclusion, I found myself on the edge of my seat, desperate to uncover the truth behind the murders and the motivations of the characters. The Ivies is a gripping, thought-provoking listen that will appeal to fans of boarding school thrillers and murder mysteries.
