Poon’s narration here is a masterclass in creeping unease—her voice drops into a conspiratorial hush for the witch dialogues, making you feel like an eavesdropper on secrets best left unheard. Jordan, meanwhile, nails Daniel’s desperation, his tone fraying just enough to sell the descent into madness. The production is flawless, with seamless transitions that keep the audiobook from ever feeling disjointed despite its massive runtime. My only gripe? The later novellas occasionally rely too heavily on exposition dumps to explain the house’s lore, which risks pulling the listener out of the immersive horror. That said, the payoff—a climactic siege where magic and architecture become indistinguishable—is worth every tedious paragraph.
