From the very beginning, Aaron Shedlock's narration pulls you into the story, his voice and intonation perfectly capturing the tension and fear of the characters. Chateau's writing is gripping, with a masterful build-up of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. One of the standout aspects of the audiobook is the way it plays with the mundane setting of a mall, which serves as the perfect backdrop for the unfolding horror. However, I did feel that the conclusion was a bit rushed and could have benefited from more exploration of the supernatural threat. Overall, The Saltwater Marathon is a haunting and unforgettable listen that fans of the horror and occult genres will greatly appreciate.
